Saints is a leading direct secondary acquirer of venture
capital and private equity investments in emerging growth companies around
the globe. We also make traditional direct venture capital investments
on a primary basis and in special situations in technology, healthcare,
consumer and industrial companies in the United States. We are headquartered
in San Francisco, with investment professionals in Europe and in Asia.
We currently manage funds with investments in over one hundred individual
companies totaling over a half of a billion dollars in originally invested
capital.
We are the leading investment firm focused on the private
direct secondary market, having closed over ten portfolio transactions
as well as many individual investment stake transactions in recent years.
We have developed unique and proprietary analytical tools and methods
to efficiently manage the diligence process necessary to rapidly evaluate
secondary investment portfolios. We have applied these processes to evaluate
over fifty investment portfolios totaling investment stakes in more than
700 companies aggregating over $4 billion in investment capital.
Particular types of transactions that Saints has completed include:
- Saints acquired a portfolio of over a dozen direct investments
from a mutual fund. Saints committed significant additional capital
to invest in follow-on rounds of several of the companies.
- Saints acquired a minority stake in a mature technology company
from its founders who had departed and were looking for liquidity.
- Saints acquired a portfolio of over a dozen investments in technology
and retailing companies from a large media corporation which was
discontinuing its private equity investing activity.
- Saints acquired several companies from a crossover fund that
was looking to monetize certain investments where pay-to-play
financings were imminent and where the fund had a large investment
basis that it was looking to sell before year end.
- Saints acquired several investments from a venture capital firm that
wanted to closedown a fund that was over ten years old.
Our investment style is one of active management -
we will take board seats and board observer roles and will act as
lead investors in follow-on financings and in the restructurings
of equity. Our investment professionals all have ten to twenty years
of professional experience in a mix of senior operating roles at
privately financed companies coupled with significant experience
at leading investment banks, venture capital and consulting firms.
